Greetings my fellow Commonwealth veterans and veteran family members.
On Monday, May 30th, Americans across the country will honor those brave, honorable military men and women have made the ultimate sacrifice while servingour Nation....Those who died in combat......Those who died during preparations for war.......Those who died serving our nation in times of peace.........And those who died from the wounds of war.As we solemnly honor their legacy ofsacrificeonMemorial Day,let us account for the present, reflect on the past, and renew our commitment of service to our Nation......This includes comforting and supporting our Gold Star Families as they continue to mourn the loss of their love one.....This includes serving as community leaders and advocates......
This includes being a “brother’s or sister’s” keeperfor our fellow veteransand their families.......Finally, I would like to invite all veterans, as well as Kentuckians, to participate in the many planned Memorial Day ceremonies across the Commonwealth, to include KDVA’s five state veterans’ cemetery ceremonies in Hopkinsville, Radcliff, Williamstown, Greenup and Hyden.Or, if you wish, honor our fallen veterans in your own special way.May God continue to bless our fallen brothers’and sisters’ spirits, and the Gold Star Families members they left behind. And for him to give us the resolve and strength to ensure their legacyof service will always be honored by generations of Americans to come.”
