About
Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a 285-bed long-term care facility that has served more than 3,656 Veterans from all branches of the armed forces since admitting the first resident on August 25, 1991. Thomson-Hood is the largest facility operated by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs.
Thomson-Hood Veterans Center was Kentucky's first state-run veteran's nursing home. It was renamed from the Kentucky Veterans Center in 1998 to its current name. Its current namesakes are for LTC George Thomson, a WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War veteran who's lobbying efforts helped secure funding for the center and Beatrice Hood, who was the center's first administrator.
