Located in a beautifully wooded setting near Fort Knox military post and the Fort Knox Gold Vault, the Carl M. Brashear Radcliff Veterans Center (RVC) is a 120-bed State Veterans long-term care facility, which opened in 2017.

The facility was named after Carl M. Brashear, a United States Navy sailor, who rose to the highest enlisted rank, master chief boatswain's mate, before his retirment in 1979. He was also the first African-American to become a U.S. Navy master diver in 1970, despite having an amputated left leg.

In 2000, the movie "Men of Honor" was inspired by Brashear's story.
