Western Kentucky Veterans Center (WKVC) opened 14 March 2002 in Hanson, Kentucky. Situated on 33 acres of beautiful farmland 5 miles north of Madisonville, the 156-bed facility provides long-term skilled nursing care for Kentucky's veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States.
Eligibility Requirements:
(1)  To be admitted to a Kentucky Veterans Center, the person shall:
       (a) be a veteran;
       (b) be disabled by reason of disease, wounds, age or is otherwise in need of nursing 
       (c) be a Kentucky resident as of the date of admission to a Kentucky Veterans 
       Center; and
       (d) have a military discharge that is not of a dishonorable nature.
(2)   A person shall not be eligible for admission if the person:
       (a) has been diagnosed by a qualified health care professional as acutely mentally ill, 
       as an acute alcoholic, as addicted to drugs, as continuously disruptive or as dangerous
       to self or others;
       (b) is ventilator-dependent; or
       (c) has needs that cannot be met by the Veterans Center.
Our Amenities  
We offer a wide array of important services for the convenience, comfort and well being of our veterans. These include: primary care physician on site, 24-hour nursing care, pharmacy services, physical therapy in house, gift shop, chaplain on staff, daily activities, arts and crafts, library on site, and one wing designated for dementia/Alzheimer's disease.

County Clerks Present $15,000 Check to WKVC

County Clerks in the western district collected $15,000 from the sale of bird houses made from old license plates.

The money will be used to purchase a blanket warmer, and IN2L computer and a grandfather clock reality orientation board.
