Color Guard of all Five ServicesThe Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA) takes on many programs beyond our three primary missions of healthcare, benefits and cemeteries. These additional missions take on many forms. This page is devoted to some of these programs.

Korean War Missing DNA Project

KDVA works with the U.S. Department of Defense to find family members of Kentuckians missing in the Korean War.

High School Diploma Program for Veterans of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War

KDVA helps veterans who left school to serve during global conflicts to receive their high school diplomas.

KDVA helps Korean War veterans obtain the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

KDVA helps veterans obtain service medals that either need replacement or that the veterans may not have received.

Gold Star Mother License Plates

KDVA helps Gold Star Mothers - parents whose children have died in military service - obtain special vehicle license plates honoring their sacrifice.

Recognition Programs

KDVA is routinely involved in various programs all across the Commonwealth to honor our veterans. Programs to commemorate Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Patriots Day, as well as school programs, community/civic programs, and monument dedications are all part of what we do...and we are honored to do so.
