Wreaths Across America
9 a.m. EST, Saturday, Dec. 12. Cemetery Director will say a few words at the Committal Shelter, then all present are welcome to place more than 550 wreaths at all headstones plus the Columbarium Wall. Wreaths Across America is a national program to place wreaths on all veterans' gravesites throughout the country on the second Saturday in December.
Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast is located on approximately 75 acres on East Park Drive off Highway 67 and Industrial Parkway off I-64 in Greenup County, approximately one half-mile north of U.S. Highway 64 at the Boyd, Carter and Greenup County border. It opened September 10, 2010 . As of May 31, 2013, it has interred 271 people, including 237 veterans, 34 dependents and 2 service members killed in action.

According to Kentucky law,
the individual must be a Kentucky veteran for burial at one of the state
veteran cemeteries. Examples include: born in KY, served at one of the
U.S. military installations in KY, lived in KY, home of record in KY.
Hours of Operation
Kentucky's State Veterans Cemeteries
are open to the public 24 hours, seven days a week. Normal business
hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, not including state
holidays. Interments take place on non-holiday weekdays only.
Saturdays, Sundays and holidays are reserved for families and loved ones
of those interred to visit in peace and quiet.
Total interment services include:
- Furnishing grave or columbarium space
- Opening and closing the grave
- Providing the interment site with perpetual care
- Supplying a suitable marker or headstone
- Furnishing an optional concrete grave liner for casketed burials
