Description |
 |
Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East is located on approximately 75 acres on East Park Drive off Highway 67 and Industrial Parkway off I-64 in Greenup County, approximately one half-mile north of U.S. Highway 64 at the Boyd, Carter and Greenup County border. Construction includes an administration building (~3,600 square feet), a maintenance building (~4,400 square feet) with service area, committal facility and a columbarium. Appropriate parking, road network, walking path and landscaping commensurate with the dignity and honor for a state veteran’s cemetery.
Construction and initial equipment for KVCNE cost $6.1 million. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs reimbursed the state for construction, and the state pays the operating costs.

KDVA began construction on Kentucky's fourth State Veterans Cemetery in Greenup County in August 2009. Governor Steve Beshear lead the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, September 18.

Total interment services include:
- Furnishing grave or columbarium space
- Opening and closing the grave
- Providing the interment site with perpetual care
- Supplying a suitable marker or headstone
- Furnishing an optional concrete grave liner for all casketed burials
NOTE on markers and headstones: Although the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs offers flat marble or bronze markers in addition to upright bronze and marble headstones, KDVA permits only upright marble headstones and marble columbarium niche markers at our state cemeteries.
