Mission and Goal

"Take care of Kentucky's 367,000 veterans and their 600,000 family members"

The mission of the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA) is defined in KRS Chapter 40.310. The statute provides for services and support to the citizens of the Commonwealth who are veterans of military service, their families, dependents and/or survivors and like persons residing in other states.

To that end, we strive to assist veterans and their dependents in the presentation, proof and establishment of all claims, privileges, rights and other veteran benefits, which they may have under federal, state or local laws. The other benefits offered by KDVA include veterans' nursing homes, cemeteries, counseling, and programs for homeless veterans and women veterans.
