Veterans Week begins Wednesday, November 4 and culminates on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11.
The official commemoration of Veterans Day takes place at 11 a.m. local time on November 11.
Veterans Week events will be held all over Kentucky this year. Here is a partial list of events:
KDVA will observe Veterans Day at all three of its State Veterans Cemeteries and all three of its Veterans Centers.
Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West
Services will be held at 10 a.m. local time (Central)
The Fort Campbell American Legion Family of Post 233 will host the Veterans Day service at KVCW this year. Richard Pauze, a local veteran, will be the guest speaker, and the Fort Campbell JROTC will be posting The Colors.
We will recognize Oak Grove AMVETS for their donation of the Scattering Bridge and Rock Flower Garden. There will be a chili luncheon & sandwiches severed at the Oak Grove American Legion following the service.

Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central

The guest speaker will be COL (Ret) JW Thurmond. The Chaplin will be Al Manuel. American Legion Post 113 of Elizabethtown will provide the honor guard and Post 113 Auxiliary will provide refreshments.

Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North

The guest speaker will be CSM (Ret) Charles Duffee. Members of the Grant County High School Jr. ROTC will recite the prose poem "What Is A Veteran." Marty Pinkston will give the invocation and benediction, and the Grant County Veterans Honor Guard will retire the national colors.
Blue Star Mothers of Kentucky will also dedicate their Memorial Stone during the ceremony.

Sunday, Nov. 8 - Veterans from THVC will participate in the Lexington Veterans Parade at 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 11 - Thomson-Hood Veterans Center will have a Ceremony starting @ 11:11 to honor all of the resident Veterans with a certificate of gratitude for their bravery.
Saturday, Nov. 14 - Veterans from THVC will participate in the Wilmore Veterans Parade at 9 a.m. Following the parade, there will be a community ceremony at THVC at 11:11 a.m. The 138th Fires Brigade will post the colors, the Dixie Land South Band will provide music and Wayne Sparks will give the invocation. Keynote speaker and Singer are to be announced.

Saturday, Nov. 7, Veterans Day Parade, 2 p.m., beginning on Frederica Street at W. 12th St. The Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall will be on display at Moreland Park across from the SportsCenter.
Taylorsville
Saturday, Nov. 7 - Guard Duty Celebration. This year’s celebration will begin at 10:00 AM with the Veterans Honor Ceremony located at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 88 Miller Road, Taylorsville. The parade will kick off at 12:00 PM, at the staging area located at Spencer County High School’s parking lot.
Following the parade, “Defenders”, a military show of power, will be located at the Spencer County High School area.
Winchester

Madisonville
The largest Veterans Day Parade in Kentucky has been chosen as a Regional Veterans Day Site by the Dept. of Veterans Affairs in Washington, DC. It is one of 40 such sites across the nation.
This is the 45th year that Madisonville has honored our Veterans with a parade. In addition to the parade, we will celebrate and honor our veterans with activities the week of Nov. 4 - 11. There will be poster and essay contests for students, and an "Honor Our Veterans Gala" on November 7 where the first Veteran of the Year Award will be presented.
Brig. Gen. Michael Dornbush will be the guest speaker.

The parade route is more than 1 mile and in years past entries exceeded 1.5 miles.
Bowling Green
Saturday, Nov. 7 - Parade events begin at 10 a.m. in Bowling Green on the square. The parade will begin at 333 College Street and all participants should be there by 0900 hours. The Grand Marshal is Colonel Robert E. Spiller.
Lexington
Sunday, Nov. 8 - The 6th Annual Veterans Affairs Veterans' Parade, 3:30pm in Downtown Lexington to honor those who have served and those currently serving in our Armed Forces.

Saturday, Nov. 7 - Veterans Day Concert "A Star-Spangled Celebration," 6:30 p.m. at Fields Auditorian on the campus of Maysville Community and Technical College, US 68 South.

WLWT news anchor Todd Dykes will host "An Evening of Great Legends" featuring the music of "Elvis", Rosemary Clooney, Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette, Roy Orbison, Connie Francis & more. The second half of the program will feature the Golden Chords, Miss Kentucky 2009 and a surprise guest. All Veterans and Armed Forces groups will be recognized at the finale.

Veterans Day program, hosted by the Oldham County American Legion Post 39. It will include the Oldham County Band, directed by Brad Rogers. The guest speaker will be Army Captain Stephan L. Walters.
